ŞUAQ Festival: Audio Expedition in Charyn Canyon

ŞUAQ: Sonic Journey — Charyn Canyon, Kazakhstan
August 31 | Charyn Canyon | 18:00–06:00

On August 31st, the creative collective TOLK teams up with QNP to take their third ŞUAQ into the wild — transforming Charyn Canyon into a site-specific sound expedition. This isn’t just a party. It’s an immersive listening experience where nature, music, and light merge into a single composition.

Over twelve artists from across Central Asia will present live performances, ambient sessions, vinyl sets, and experimental electronics — some heard only through headphones, others resonating openly under the canyon’s night sky. Two stages, three distinct approaches to sound.

No alcohol, no heavy structures, no harm to the landscape — only respectful presence and deep listening. From algorithmic live coding to DIY instruments, from slow meditative sets to percussive experiments, ŞUAQ invites you to explore sound as both a cultural and environmental dialogue. After sunset, light and laser projections will read the canyon’s surface like a map, turning rock formations into living visual scores.

Every detail is designed to leave nothing behind but impressions — the event follows a strict "pack in — pack out" policy, with waste sorting and recycling led by Ecosen.

Tickets for the event can be purchased at sxodim.com
